I am a registered, accredited hypnotherapist and psychotherapist with many years of experience working with a number of therapy systems and a wide range of issues.
I specialise in treating adults and teenagers with a variety of issues and provide a caring and confidential treatment program tailored to each individual. My previous work in education, the creative arts, media and as a carer as well as a therapist equips me with a wide experience of life.
I qualified as Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training Centre in Bristol, a recognised and accredited centre of excellence for hypnotherapy in the UK.
I am a Trustee and the Secretary to a local educational charity: The Library of Avalon: a wonderful educational resource organising talks, courses and symposia as well as providing research and learning facilities with over 15,000 books on psychology, philosophy and various other esoteric subjects.
In the 1080’s I had the opportunity of studying and working with the American psychologist Frank Natale co-founder of The Phoenix Centre in New York in 1967 and who later was also founder and creative director of Frank Natale & Associates, an experiential education organization presenting seminars throughout the United States, Europe and Australia. Having graduated as a TNI Instructor of courses in Results, Self Esteem, Communication and Relationships, I worked in London and the Netherlands and was a co-founder of The Humaniversity in North London, where we worked intensely with Gestalt and encounter Therapy forms during the late 1980’s.
For some years I also enjoyed a career as a designer, director and producer in television and theatre, both in London and in Amsterdam, before coming to live in Somerset in 2008.
Here I worked in a local secondary school assisting children with Special Needs. This work, and my personal experiences of being a full time carer for my child who acquired intractable epilepsy as a teenager, inspired me to renew my work in psychotherapy.
My child’s life changing illness, which began when they were a teenager, inspired me to research deeply into teenage brain development and its effect on mental health and, in addition to my normal hypnotherapy treatments, I now offer a special short course for teenagers and their parents designed to help them deal with the significant changes and challenges of being a teenager in the 21st century. This course is suitable for all teenagers and their parents, whether or not they are suffering from specific problems. You can see more about this on the page devoted to this subject. I will be shortly publishing a workbook on the subject.
